The Problem

A Koreatown apartment building owner on Wilshire Boulevard contacted 24/7 Rooter Service after multiple tenants complained of extremely low water pressure and brown water from faucets. The 1960s building had never had its galvanized steel water supply system replaced.

What We Found

We inspected the water supply system and confirmed severely corroded galvanized pipes with heavy internal rust and mineral buildup throughout the building. Flow tests showed water pressure dropping from 60 PSI at the meter to under 20 PSI at upper floor units — the corrosion had reduced the pipe interior to a fraction of its original diameter.

What We Did

We repiped the full building with copper over four days, working floor by floor and restoring water to tenants each evening. We installed new shutoff valves at every unit, new hose bibs, and a new PRV at the building entry. All work was coordinated with the property manager to minimize tenant disruption.

Result

Water pressure restored to 65 PSI at all units. Brown water complaints eliminated. All tenants received full water service every evening. Building owner received permit documentation and a full repipe report.
